Calm before the rainbow storm

After months of planning, reading boring documents & financial forecasting, it’s finally time. I move out of my studio at Unit 4, Islington Mill, at the end of the month.

I have a big mixed bowl full of emotions. I’m sad to be leaving the Mill, where I’ve spent the last 8 years, building my community & my career. But I’m also beyond ready for this step; it’s been 10 years in the making. All these months of picking out shelving & flooring & drawing floorplans galore! But the time is finally approaching where I’m actually moving in.

I’ve already willingly accepted that this could either be the best of worst financial decision I ever make in my life. When I first arrived in Studio 4101 in 2019, I had no tufting equipment & no income. Yet I’ve built that 372 square foot space into an overflowing tufting haven since then. So, I’d rather try & fail to maintain this enormous 2,500 square foot space, rather then not take the risk & never know if I could do it. What else am I going to do with my 30’s? Might as well sink everything into creating my fantasy rugmaking studio :)
